Update March 14, 2010

I can’t believe another day has passed in Haiti.  So much gets packed into one day!  This morning was service at 8:00, but many were here by 7:00, claiming their chairs…  The rest would have to stand!

I believe 11 people accepted Jesus into their lives today, most of them, children!  It’s a joy to see God move on the next generation!  Some parents were recently saved and they were sending them to the altar to meet Jesus!  I spoke with those who talked with the new convertees later; they said they were genuine.  They will come to the New Believers class this week, along with their parents!  Soon whole families will be born again into God’s family!

Following the service, we had lunch together and then the remaining teams left for home.  We said our goodbyes and Terry left for the DR with the first ones; Sony left with the second team leaving Port-au-Prince.  We immediately began to prepare for those coming this week!  It’s a lot of work!  I relieved ‘my girls’ so they could get some rest with their families and I continued the laundry into tonight.  What is a Mom for?!  Our people are really tired; this afternoon was a time for everyone to step back and breathe!  Tomorrow is another busy day at Light Ministries as we prepare for more construction and medical teams in the coming weeks.

Everyone here is beginning to find his place and outside teams are plugging right  in with us!   We constantly have an American ‘on duty’ to keep the load off of Terry, Olrich and Cinera so they can do what only they can do.  It’s fun to see Haitians begin to rise up to cover what those three once did…  We are serving one another!

It’s a wonderful foretaste of the Body of Christ working together.  We are one body, but many members.  Romans 12:4-5 says we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.  Not one part is more important than another!

Jesus is the Head.   It’s exciting to see Him  able to function with the neck, the shoulders, the arms, hands and fingers, and the torso, with the legs, the feet and toes!  Not one member can do the job alone:  We must work together to accomplish the task at hand.  That is really what is happening here!  When they arrive, some don’t understand what function they are called to, but it doesn’t take long before they find their place.  I wish you could all see this operation.  It really is a “God-thing”!

The greatest thing in keeping us functioning together is YOU, holding us up in prayer and financial support so we can continue to rebuild.  Because we know you are there, we don’t feel the stress.  Please don’t let down your guard, and we promise we will not let ours down!

Cary
