November 3, 2010 Haiti

Update November 3, 2010

Our youth are still talking about their trip to the mountain.  They will never be the same.  Haiti is beautiful!  They just have never seen it.

We received the water purification packets and continue to distribute them… Several million gallons of water have been made!  Cholera has settled down, even though there are new cases still appearing at the hospital.

The land next to the church is finally secured with two big gates and barbed military wire on top of the walls, making ready for the coming houses and clinic.

Hurricane Tomas right now is heading right toward Haiti and could create a lot of mudslides, massive flooding, and strong winds that could destroy all the remaining property of millions still trying to survive after the earthquake. Our people are in place to handle another disaster if we must.  We have medical supplies and are gathering food as funds come in.  Our church and house are being prepared for possible evacuation and we are removing everything that could be blown away or pose danger to the people.

Remember, when the last hurricane passed through, we lost part of the huge tin roof on our church. We have not yet been able to replace it ($34,000), only repair the torn-off pieces, so our concern is great that it could blow off again and harm those outside and bring a deluge of water inside the sanctuary again.  Everything is so costly and the roof has had to be put on hold in order that lives could be saved.  Pray for our safety.  These people can’t handle much more pressure!

I continue to go back to Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.”

His Word brings such calm in the midst of a very real storm!
